LIFCO members send children on mad dash in search of treasure
Local businesses provided raffle prizes for the parents as ideas were thrown around to engage community members of all ages
LIFCO little ones went in search of doubloons and bounty on May 14.
With the adult business of the LIFCO AGM out the way, the children were let loose for a frantic plundering of the hidden coins. Each child needed to ransack ten golden cardboard tokens from the field and return them to the committee members in order to collect their treasure.
The treasure hunt took place on a recently cleared section of the park surrounding the lake behind the Strubens Valley Shopping Centre. Great effort has gone into beautifying the park and as work progresses more space is created for the community. A steel bridge across the stream is the newest addition, all made possible by LIFCO members.
The AGM addressed further ways to engage the community, proposing a spring festival, golf day and charity committee among other ideas. Looking after the elderly was also on the agenda, with the establishment of a pensioners forum and a social committee for mature singles on the cards. Spaces are open for those wanting to assist the committee with administrative duties so the time has never been better to get involved.
